This place was okay. I was working at one of the refineries in Belle Chasse and came here for lunch one day. The service was a bit slow and not anything special. The layout was pretty old school, needed some updating and some tables repaired -- were stabilized by sugar packets. I ordered a crab cake on a bun with fries and it was alright. It was very filling and the cake tasted good. But I got some crab bones in it and so it didn't really make my experience worth it. It was a busy joint and the hostess was nice though.

Man, this place didn't live up to my expectations at all. I usually find fantastic food at little "holes in the wall". Some of the best food I have ever had has been at divey little places. Unfortunately, that theory didn't pan out this time. We came during lunch and there wasn't too much of a crowd. The waitress was super attentive at first. I was going to get my usual fried oyster platter, but I decided to switch it up, and since I saw fried soft shell crab on the menu, I got that. I also decided to start with a bowl of corn and crab bisque, a favorite. The corn and crab bisque came out and it was pretty good. Honestly, I kind of get the feeling that it was from a can, but once I added a little hot sauce to it, it was passable. The soft shell crab platter came with a nice side salad that I enjoyed, and was probably the best part of the meal. The crab platter came out and I was immediately underwhelmed. First of all, it was only one medium sized crab on a huge pile of fries. Once I dug into the crab, the claws were tasty, but the body was under cooked and mushy in the middle. I didn't even finish it. It was completely unappetizing. When the check came, they actually tried to charge us for two soft shell crab platters (correct) and two soft shell crab poboys (incorrect)! It's a good thing we were paying attention, otherwise they would have made off with a good bit of extra money. Salvo's is right down the road and a million times better, save yourself the time and heartache and just go there.

This restaurant is tucked away down-the-road in Belle Chasse. It was okay, but I would not recommend going out of your way to eat here. The service is pretty good, definitely nothing special. I can say even less about the food. I ordered the shrimp half-poboy which comes with a cup of soup. The waitress recommended the corn & shrimp bisque so I ordered that. It was everything short of good. The bisque was too think and clumpy, and not really flavorful, just creamy. The poboy wasn't amazing; it was ok. That's all I can say for now. I wasn't really a fan!

This place is awesome- it was my first meal in Louisiana when I did a roadtrip down the Great River Road in 2010 and I loved it. The portions are massive- I ordered the crab cakes, and since they're not enough to fill you up anywhere else I've eaten, I ordered the gator sausage as an appetizer. The sausage was awesome, then I got the crabcakes and they were massive! They were 3 times bigger than any other crabcakes I've ever had, and covered in an awesome crawfish cream sauce.

Food is mediocre and the service is atrocious. Don't waste your time. I ordered a po boy and it took an hr and 20 minutes to get and there was only 4 other tables full. Waste of my time.

This place is great. It has an awesome small town feel to it and the customer service is superb. Our food was really good in fact probably some of the best local food we had while visiting the area. The portion sizes are enormous and packed with flavor.

Hell of a breakfast selection. Never had a Cajun breakfast before it was excellent. Definitely gonna come back and try some more of their unique concoctions

Horrible overpriced food and the slowest service this side of the Mississippi. What was I thinking? I will not be back unless dragged by horses!

Great food! Good menu selections! The waitress was very nice! The portion sizes were perfect! They had some good gumbo! This place should have way more than 2.5 stars. I would recommend this place to anyone in the local area!

I would have given this place 0 stars if it gave me that option. I've been here several times, and tried to give them the benefit of the doubt that maybe they were a little busy at times. This was WAY cast aside after my last visit. I was 1 of only 2 people there and still waited 20 minutes for someone to seat me. Once I was seated, I watched all the waitresses complaining with each other (very unprofessional ) and deciding who was going to take the 1st tables. No one came to take my drink order or my food order for half an hour! Finally I was able to flag someone down and had them take both. By this time more people started showing up. Somehow, I still got my food after everyone else. I am in the military and our unit has attempted to visit this place a few times. Each time, we were faced with very long wait times and listened to waitresses complaining to each other on the side. I'm done giving them my time or my money, as is my unit.

We had a solid dinner tonight. A few fried seafood dishes. A couple pasta dinners. I had oysters and hush puppies for an appetizer. Surface was fast, waitress was at tentative, and food was above average. I think maybe a little over priced, but good food, and I'll take that any day.

I wandered in one afternoon, hoping to find some respite from the heat in the cool solace of a mint julip and tasty appetizers. The dimly lit restaurant hid the faces of several older gentleman, who looked up and immediately ceased talking upon my arrival. Wishing to be friendly, I nodded cordially to acknowledge their presence. My show of etiquette was met only with icy stares. Unperturbed by the uncouth nature of my present company, I sat at the nearest table offered to me, and ordered. I ordered red beans and rice, and it tasted like the frozen dung of an alligator, reheated to be slightly lukewarm, the reptilian turd texture quite intact. I waited for three quarters of an hour for this unsavory and expensive dish. It sat upon my stomach no less than 15 minutes before exploding forth from my bowels in a violent, fiery tirade that smelled of dead cats and regret!! A part of my soul died that day. I will never be the same. My feet braced against the wall, sweat pouring down my naked body as I struggled to keep my tears from my cheek. I would rather be sodomized by a hobo than dine here again.

Went back to Li'L G's for lunch. I got the oyster poboy and my wife got a hamburger. The burger was awesome! We were blown away. If you've read some of my previous reviews, you'll know my wife and I go out of our way to find a good hamburger. This burger did not disappoint. Strongly recommend it.
(5)Arionna J.
The service was awesome. I purchased the fried eggplant. The Lil G Burger was well dressed hot and BIG !!!!! We also purchased the half platter catfish plate and it was filling!! Well seasoned with a side salad. I. Enjoyed my take out experience.

I was iffy about going here after reading all the negative reviews, but I gave it a shot since it isn't far from home and I had a restaurant.com gift certificate. The decor is nothing to brag about although my little one loved the alligators and tarpon that decorated the place. We figured we'd keep it simple by ordering a couple of burgers. It did take quite a bit of time considering that we were the only ones there at the time. Once we received our food we understood why. My gosh! The burgers were huge and delicious! I can't speak for anything else on the menu, but you can't possibly go wrong with their burgers. Fresh beef seasoned throughout, fresh ingredients, buttered and toasted bun? I know we were happy!
(4)Jeffrey W.
The food was delicious i ordered the bayou wrap it came with plenty of craw fish tails over angel hair pasta. The wraps themselves were superbly cooked crispy on the oitside with the filling on the inside being soft and delucous.
(4)Kayla C.
I was less than pleased with the food. I had the seafood platter which came with oysters (I'm gonna say about a total of 2 because they were cut into tiny pieces), 4 shrimp, softshell crab, raw in the middle crab cake, 3 pieces of fish and a ton of fries. The salad came with literally 2 croutons (such a shame because those were delicious). The staff was friendly enough. I wouldn't make a special trip here and would actually rather eat at the burger king up the street instead.

If you love frozen and reheated food then this is the place for you. They also serve bland fried seafood. Plenty of bad options on the menu. Everything about this not so Cajun restaurant is tacky and needs to be cleaned.

One of the closer places to the Oronite plant so I went here three times for lunch. Food was fine the first two times, but could have been better the third. The portions are huge and the prices aren't bad. Fried pickles are a good appetizer. The third time I had chicken gumbo which didn't have much flavor but sure did have a TON of salt. I'll probably go back when I need a close place for lunch although I'll avoid the gumbo.

Decent service, decent sized portions, decent food, but overpriced - and that's where this place suffers. The menu has a boat-load of choices, with a lot of your standard "New Orleans" style dishes, as well as really good daily specials. Service at the hostess stand is definitely lackluster, but they make up for it at the tables, where they are certainly very helpful and polite. Food comes out pretty quick, and is definitely hot and good - I had no problems with bad food or dirty silverware. I did however, feel like I had paid too much for what I got. I think a few more visits - and trying different things off of the menu - would probably lead me to a different conclusions, and I had a good enough meal that I would be back to try it again in the future. Would possibly recommend, will be back.

The Girly and I have a rule. No trying new places on Sunday. We've had such bad luck with that in the past, that we SHOULD have learned our lesson. We didn't. And we paid for it. For the rest of the day and night. When you walk in, you have to stop and let your eyes adjust to the dark. It took us about 30 seconds to notice a little girl behind a hidy-hole greeter stand. She led us into a very dark and musty-smelling dining room, walls covered with stuffed dead things. They has TVs blaring and no one in the place was talking. It made for a mildly frightening introduction. We sat down and immediately noticed a smell. The girly, being braver than I, stuck her nose down toward the table. That was where the smell was coming from. It smelled like a mildewed rag was used on the table. There was still food bits on it so it must have been from the cleaning that morning. We are starving and know that some of the best food we've had have been from less than sterling clean establishments. We decided to app it (order all appetizers) and some crawfish. First thing the young waitress did was bring us two plates for sharing. Very nice of her but the plates she brought had more chips in it than plate. I thought health inspectors catch that first. So she brought us two more plates. These still had food bits on them from whomever else had eaten there. So had to send THOSE back too. At this point I'm getting nervous and ask the Girly if she wanted to leave. She said no so we stayed. Mistake. Big mistake. HUGE. After waiting a REALLY long time, our apps started coming in slowly. Here is the run-down: Crawfish was extremely clove-scented/flavored. After two of them, my hands smelled like a goth fishmonger. Really unpleasant. Didn't finish more than 4 even with sharing. Oyster Brochette -Deep fried bacon wrapped oysters. Greasy and the bacon was raw. Possibly what led to the sick stomach for us both. Duck nuggets (Or whatever they call them). The sauce was ok but these were hard little super-thick coated lumps of hard. No duck flavor. Probably the best thing we had there which says a lot. Gater Sausage. This should have been a big winner. Gater is less fatty than pork and we usually like it much more. But in cooking it, they must have just ladled in oil. It was greasy and left a puddle in our plate. Crawfish bread. This was just nasty. It was french bread that was ripped open and a shredded cheese and crawfish mixture was poured over it and put under a broiler. It used the same badly flavored crawfish as the boil and someone was so heavy-handed on the white pepper that it left a coating in our mouths. For this travesty to food, we paid $40 bucks. And paid with stomach aches and nausea. Poor Girly is still sick this morning. Needless to say, I would not recommend this place to ANYONE for any reason. Not even Rush Limbaugh...well, maybe him.

It took 50 mins to get out food. The Tuna, was tough and you can tell that is was frozen. The hamburger steak was cold. Ask for a manger , still never showed up. All Military avoid if you are trying to eat and get back on time.

Service- service with a smile. Our waitress was extremely friendly and was from our hometown, Chicago. Food- the food was all disgusting The restaurant- dirty and disgusting Good service doesn't make up for crappy food and a disgusting restaurant

My husband stopped in Li'l Ge's Kajun Restaurant while wandering around southern Louisiana yesterday. When you first walk in it's really dark, which is good because then you don't get a good feel for how dirty it is. There was a young girl working behind this small counter reading a book. It must have been a good book because she was obviously inconvenienced by our desire to have lunch. The waitress was really nice but not too helpful. My husband's silverware still had food on it from someone else's previous meal. After making a few attempts to get the waitress to bring him a clean fork, he gave up and got another set of silverware off another table. It was dirty too. He finally got the waitresses attention who brought him a clean fork. All the while, the young lady who was originally reading a book just glared at us. The food was mediocre at best. Defiantly not worth $40 for a Sunday lunch. With all the good seafood and Cajun restaurants in southern Louisiana, I'm certain there are far better choices than this one.

Didn't go too crazy and just had the shrimp po-boy. Nothing special but I'll be hitting this place up in a few months when I get back to NOLA to dig in on some crawfish. Then I'll have a worthy review.

I was in Belle Chasse for work, and so on our way back to the office we decided to stop for lunch. I had the suggestion from my brother to go there, he said it was usually pretty good. The place was packed when we walked in. There was a back room too and even that was packed. The hostess seemed a little overwhelmed and angry, she had a furrowed brow and didn't give us our crackers when she sat us, but I looked past this. The menu was overwhelming much like the crowd was to the hostess. I stuck to the lunch specials to make it easy on myself. I ordered the half a poboy and cup of soup, I chose hot roast beef and corn and crab bisque. The bisque came out first, it was very rich and creamy, a little kick, but not too much. It was pretty good I must say, there was a little bit of a processed cheese feeling going on in there, which is highly possible, but whatever it was good. Then a little later the poboy came out, it was a nice size, more like half of a 16 incher. I was a little put off at first because the gravy was a little on the clear side, I'm not too sure about clearish gravy, but I gave it a little taste, and it wasn't bad. The beef was really yummy, so the gravy didn't matter much. I had a pile of napkins after I was finished, so that's a good sign that the roast beef poboy was a success! I will be back when I'm out there again, but for now I give it 3 stars because of the quality of the food isn't super duper gourmet, but the place is called Lil' G's Kajun Restaurant, I can't be expecting 5 star presentation and quality. Definitely worth the stop though.

Good hometown cooking. Nothing fancy but great place for lunch.
(4)Lara C.
Slowest service evar. 1.5 hours til getting food for 4 people on a not so busy night. Other tables had 3 parties come and go while we were seated. Mediocre food.

Love Lil g's. Po boys are great. Oyster and artichoke soup is a favorite. Charbroiled oysters are also great.

Great local experience. Super friendly. Gigantic plate of onion rings. Since keg ran out halfway into our beer pitcher pour, waitress subsequently brought a second almost full pitcher. 5 stars for authenticity and hospitality. maybe don't take a date here unless you drive a large truck, wear fishing shirts, etc.
(5)Thepmala S.
Over priced. Dirty. Poor service. Food was mediocre. Our baby spit up a little on the floor and I just needed something to clean it up. Like a wet towel. But the girls just looked at me and our waitress said she was going to up chuck if she came close.
(1)Brian D.
Previous reviews have it nailed. Dark, dingy, dirty, greasy food. And I really wanted to like it, but just can't.
(1)Ken H.
Sorry for the bad review, but its just not for me. If you like like like like like fried food then go. I never thought i could say bad things about greasy fried food, because for the most part i love fried food. This was way way too much. Do not make plans if you choose to eat here, because you wont be following though with them, you will in an emergency room awaiting heart surgery
(1)Sheena S.
Not a fan. Some locals said it was good seafood but I found it dirty and pretty overpriced for some greasy fried food. $100 for family if four to much for this place.
(2)Katie B.
My husband and I really enjoy this place when we go. Yes, it is a LOT of fried food (and very heavy food), I guess it really depends on your individual taste. That's why we only go every now and then, when we're in the mood for it. The service is great! All the servers we have met have been so friendly! Some of them know us by name, lol.
(4)Rhona F.
Have to agree with some of the other posters. Mostly fried food with heavy sauces. I did enjoy the crabcakes with no sauce. Service could definitely been better. Two of us received our entrees while the other two did not arrive for several minutes. The server kept apologizing and said they were short of help (this was on a Wednesday night)
